Powdered Donuts

Ingredients

  • 5 egg yolks
  • 1 cake yeast
  • 6 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 cups milk
  • 3 Tbs. unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Method

  1. Mix yeast & sugar in lukewarm water; let stand.
  2. Mix together egg yolks, butter and yeast mixture.
  3. Add flour and make a soft dough. Mix well with a wooden spoon; let stand 1 hour. Do Not knead !
  4. Place donut dough on a floured board, and pat out to about a 1 inch thickness with your hands. Do Not use a rolling pin!
  5. Cut out donuts, let stand 45 minutes.
  6. Deep fry in oil until golden brown. Remove, drain and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
